“FINISHED ALREADY” – Manchester United spotted their coach replacement for Erik ten Hag after Arsenal win vs Manchester United
A player for Manchester United has allegedly made a suggestion about who might replace Erik ten Hag. Former Liverpool midfielder Jason McAteer has said that England manager Gareth Southgate could be in the running for the job.
The player’s name wasn’t given by McAteer, but he did say that the team thinks Ten Hag might not stay in charge after this season. The Dutch manager’s second season in charge has been tough, and it doesn’t look like they’ll finish higher than third place like they did last year.
After losing at home to Arsenal, United’s hopes of getting into Europe are now in danger. If they lose to Newcastle in their next game, they will have to beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final in order to play in Europe next season.
With their most recent loss, United also set a bad mark, which made people look more closely at Ten Hag’s job. An official decision on his future won’t be made until after the FA Cup final, but McAteer has talked about what he learned from talking to a United player that makes it sound like a new boss might be coming soon.
According to The Mail, McAteer talked about the incident on beIN Sports and described his chat with the player: “He plays for Man United, and I had a conversation with him on Friday; I bumped into him because I live just outside the area.”
“Great lad, we talked, and I asked him what he thought about the end of the season. He didn’t seem to think that the manager would stay.” We even talked about different names and who we thought would be a good fit, but he didn’t seem interested in any of them.
When host Richard Keys asked about it, McAteer seemed to say that Southgate was the name that made the player happy. “Footballers have an inclination when the manager’s job is on the line and they obviously know and I just got the feeling that it’s done, it’s done,” said he.
McAteer later tried to explain what he meant by what he said on social media. “At first, no Manchester United player told me anything. Nothing! He wasn’t honest about what he thought; all he did was smile when I asked him, he said.
I came to my decision based on my own assumptions, not anyone else’s. And maybe the results and achievements of Manchester United.”
Southgate has reacted to the recent rumors that he could be taking the job at United by saying that he doesn’t want to be distracted from Euro 2024 by talk about his future. According to him, it has never been a problem for him.
“The job I have to do is make sure England wins the tournament, which is a lot of work.” I believe that’s where everyone would expect me to put my attention. There will always be rumors about managers because if you lose a few games, things go badly. If you win a few games, things get better.
“For me, though, Euro 2024 is a great chance.” We can’t wait for the tournament. What’s on my mind is how to go one step further than we did in the last Euros.
Also, Ten Hag has talked about the rumors about his own prospects. “Any manager can do better, but I’ve been here for two years and have only had one full team,” he said after Arsenal’s loss.
With so many injuries, you can’t move a team forward in certain key areas. It’s like swimming with your hands on your back; you have to keep your head above water. That’s what we try to do.
It’s still a cup match. Feel good about this. But if you want your team to move forward, you need fit people. Look at our opponent today—they only had one player who wasn’t 100% fit, while we had a lot of them.
When you’re Man United, you have to always be there and on point. I don’t like responses. “But if it does happen, you need a response, and the players gave it.”
