Paul Merson, a former Arsenal player, has placed his support on Declan Rice to win the Premier League player of the season award.

Rice, who joined the Gunners last summer, has reportedly elevated them to a higher level, as stated by Merson.

Declan Rice has elevated Arseal to an unprecedented degree. “Phil Foden has not elevated [Manchester City] to an unprecedented level, in my opinion,” he stated on Sky Sports.

“Arseal has been exceptional, in my opinion, but Declan Rice has elevated it to a higher level.”

“He has almost led them to the same position as Manchester City.” I believe he has maintained consistency throughout the entire season.

“[Rice] has joined them; Arseal came close to doing so last season; he elevated them to a higher level.”

It is difficult to recall a contest in which he did not contribute at least seven or eight out of ten points. Foden has performed admirably, but Declan Rice has my vote.”
