FA Cup final: Manchester City vs Manchester United – Team News, Predicted Lineup, Player to miss the match and Latest Injury reports

Manchester United faces Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday with a nearly perfect medical record.

The squad led by Pep Guardiola are attempting to defend yet another Premier League championship they won for the fourth consecutive week last week.

City, who defeated their opponents 2-1 at Wembley in the championship match the previous year, are heavy favorites to repeat the feat.

A double in addition to the treble won last year would further underscore the unwavering commitment to achieving exceptional results that has characterized the Guardiola tenure thus far.

It is believed that the defending league champions have nearly their entire squad available at this time; however, goalkeeper Ederson will be sidelined due to a facial injury he suffered against Tottenham earlier this month.

The Spurs match MVP Stefan Ortega, who impressed, will serve as the substitute.

Additionally, Nathan Ake and Jack Grealish have returned to fitness, giving Guardiola a nearly complete squad for the voyage to Wembley.

Predicted Manchester City Lineup: Ortega; Kyle Walker, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol; Rodri, Mateo Kovacic; Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden; Erling Haaland

Injuries: Ederson

His run-in, despite having recovered from a persistent calf injury, was halted by a setback that Erik ten Hag affirmed had been resolved prior to the championship match.

As the United manager stated on Thursday, Mount, Victor Lindelof, and Anthony Martial are all expected to make the squad. “Tomorrow is the final training session, and we’ll make the final decisions, but it looks good from where I stand now.”

Ten Hag reports that Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw, both of whom were included in England’s 33-man provisional squad for Euro 2024, will lose out due to a muscle injury that did not heal “as expected.”

Ten Hag is facing mounting pressure at Old Trafford due to rumors that he may face dismissal following the championship match at Wembley.

Recently acquired players Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, and Lisandro Martinez have, at the very least, provided him with some assistance; this week, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, and Anthony Martial were all observed in training.

A significant uncertainty is whether United will revert to the 4-2-3-1 formation that was their preferred formation for the majority of the season, or if Ten Hag will maintain the 4-2-2-2 that led to back-to-back victories at the close of the season.
