Seven (7) Newcastle United players might sold out of the club this summer transfer window
Newcastle United will have a busy summer with both new players coming in and old players leaving.
Newcastle United wants to keep Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes until the end of the season, but they may have to let go of as many as eight first-team stars before the end of the summer transfer window.
Eddie Howe has fought the urge to completely redecorate his St. James’ Park locker room so far this season. Instead, he has been trying to keep most of his Newcastle team together while adding players where they are needed. There are many reasons why this summer might be different.
The Magpies have made it through past windows without having to sell their key players. Aside from Allan Saint-Maximin, it’s hard to think of another player who left the club that did so much damage. Some people might even say that the arrival of Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes made the Frenchman’s exit pointless.
Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron could be moved on by Newcastle as they try to get their money back before their planned summer spending spree. This is because Financial Fair Play rules are making things harder than ever for most teams. In January, both attackers were sought after, and bidders are likely to come back in the months to come to try to get their signatures again.
Wilson’s injuries mean that now might be a good time to cash in, since his deal is set to end in the summer of 2025. Almiron is another player who will bring in a pretty big transfer fee that could be used to bring in new players.
Martin Dubravka is another star player on the first team whose future is unclear. In the past few months, the Slovakian goalie has filled in for Nick Pope, but next season, he will be Nick Pope’s main rival. And that’s before Newcastle might get another goalie.
Dubravka’s agent has brought up the idea that his client might leave this summer to look for a new task at the top of his career. When the 35-year-old decides to leave St. James’ Park, he will almost certainly be able to play for the first team.
The other goalkeeper, Loris Karius, is also leaving. He wants to move to Italy or Germany when his deal with Newcastle ends next month. And in just a few weeks, Paul Dummett and Matt Ritchie could also join the goalie in the free agent ranks.
Both of those players were taken to Australia with Newcastle for the end-of-season trip, but Howe didn’t put them in either team because he didn’t want them to get hurt.
If Newcastle makes it to Europe this weekend, it’s likely that both players will be offered new contracts. To play in the Europa Conference League next season, the team from the northeast needs Manchester City to beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
“They are no longer hired.” “It would have been a big risk since they didn’t have a contract offer at the moment,” Howe said after failing to give either player a game in Australia.
It’s important for the club that they win the FA Cup. We will make a lot of money next year, and qualifying for Europe will be a huge deal for us. That’s likely to affect the futures of the two guys we’re talking about.
One person who did play in Australia was Garang Kuol, who was born there. The 19-year-old has now played twice in Melbourne in the past few days, giving him two starts in Newcastle. Kuol’s last two loan spells didn’t go as planned, but he’ll likely be sent out again before the end of the summer.
“There’s still a long way to go before the season starts, so it’s hard to say for sure what will happen with a player at this point,” Howe said. “But maybe another loan spell for him will be important.”
“He’s been on loan before, but he needs the next one to go well. We also need him to play more, and hopefully that will happen.”
After a season full of injuries, Matt Targett’s name is the last one that could be fired. The left back has dropped behind Dan Burn in the team’s rankings, and it will be hard for him to get back on top of Lewis Hall after his impressive time with the team.
Teams in the bottom half of the Premier League were interested in Targett before he got hurt seriously in December.
