Reports say that Erik ten Hag will be fired after the FA Cup final, but the Dutch manager wouldn’t talk about his future at Manchester United.
The manager refused to say if he had talked to anyone about his job, saying that the rumors hadn’t affected him and that he was still focused on the final against Manchester City.
By the end of the season, Sir Jim Ratcliffe was supposed to decide what would happen with Ten Hag. He wasn’t completely sold on the new coach, who started in 2022. Before United had their worst ever Premier League finish, Ratcliffe wouldn’t officially rate Ten Hag’s job.
According to reports, Erik ten Hag will be fired by Sir Jim Ratcliffe after Manchester United’s FA Cup final against Manchester City, no matter what happens.
Earlier this year, the head of Ineos made a list of possible replacements for Ten Hag. Roberto De Zerbi, who has since left Brighton, was on that list. Ten Hag wouldn’t talk about his future, even though there was a lot of talk about his job at Old Trafford.
When asked if it had affected him directly, the 54-year-old reportedly told BBC Sport, “No, it has not.” Everything is less important than focusing on the game and the team.
When asked if he had talked to the boss about the job, Ten Hag said, “I don’t talk about my future.” What matters is the team and winning the cup, not me.
knows that Kieran McKenna, the manager of Ipswich Town, would be interested in the job at United. Between 2016 and 2021, the 38-year-old worked as a coach at Old Trafford. He started out as the Under-18s’ boss and then moved up to become assistant manager.
De Zerbi, Thomas Tuchel, and Mauricio Pochettino have all been mentioned as possible replacements for Ten Hag. Tuchel left Bayern Munich at the end of the season, and Pochettino quit Chelsea out of the blue on Tuesday.
Before Ten Hag was hired two years ago, Pochettino was one of the people who were asked to be the new manager. Recently, Tuchel talked about how much he loved being a manager in the Premier League at Chelsea, where he felt more valued as a coach.
