Newcastle United coach Eddie Howe reveals St James’ Park summer transfer plans ahead of 2024/25 season
Manager Eddie Howe of Newcastle United says there is no question what the “short-term” view is on the 2024–25 season. This is because his team just missed out on making it to Europe.
The Newcastle manager says he will be angry about some things from last season for the first few weeks of the summer, but he knows that everyone has to move on to the new season and the transfer window that is coming up.
After coming in seventh place last year, Manchester United shocked everyone by beating Manchester City to win the FA Cup and earn a spot in Europe.
Howe said, “Our short-term goal for next season is to get better.” We don’t want to waste the good things that have happened this season.
“But we want to make it better.” Building blocks are in place for us, and the standard of the team is good. As always, we’re in a good spot if we can add some value to it.
Howe, on the other hand, knows that Newcastle could have done so much more this season. They came so close in the Carabao Cup and had a terrible night against AC Milan in Europe, where they were in the running for the knockout stages of both the Champions League and the Europa League before losing.
Howe said, “You can shape it however you like.” This season could have been so much better. “Those times will annoy me for a very long time.”
Some people will see Newcastle’s drop to seventh as a step backward, but Howe thinks it’s about right for the club at this point in its history.
Howe said, “I think it’s been more true to life, but you have to think about the injuries.” It’s not an excuse; it’s just the truth; it’s been very hard to deal with. People who were healthy have given a lot.
“They have done a lot to keep our season stable and make sure we are still moving forward.” I believe this season has been good.
