Monday night is a friendly match between England and Bosnia. Manager Gareth Southgate has explained why John Stones, who plays for Manchester City, will not be playing.
Now that club football is over, our attention goes to international tournaments. Euro 2024 starts in just a few weeks.
England has two games in Germany before the playoffs. On Monday night, they play Bosnia, and on Friday, they play Iceland.
The games give Southgate a chance to try new things and choose which players to cut from his 33-person official team.
John Stones is one person who is not in danger of being cut, but he will not be participating in the attack on Bosnia…
Gareth Southgate says John Stones is busy with personal matters and won’t be able to play in the Bosnia game.
Last weekend, Manchester United beat City in the FA Cup final, ending City’s season.
Because City and United finished later than other teams, their players were able to join the England group later.
But Stones and Jack Grealish both joined up with the rest of their Three Lions teammates right away.
Stones started the FA Cup final against United with Nathan Ake, but he will not play for England against Bosnia at Wembley Stadium on Monday night.
Reporters were told by Southgate (via Sky Sports) that none of them would be playing tomorrow. The same thing will happen tomorrow to Bukayo and most likely to John Stones as well.
“Everyone else is going to be involved.”
“John can’t play because he got in a little later.” Since he hasn’t worked out with us in a while, it would be best for him to follow his own plan for the next few days.
Lots of fun for Stones this summer
This summer, England fans are very excited. Many of them think this could be their time.

The Three Lions have come close in recent tournaments, but there is a lot of ability in the team right now, and Southgate’s team is one of the favorites to win in Germany.
£50 million to sign Stones’ season with City has not been great.
Again, injuries held him back, as he could only play in 28 of the available 58 games.
He’s a Rolls-Royce of a player when he’s healthy, and we hope that the injury curse doesn’t hit him while he’s on England duty this summer. He must stay in shape because he is great at finding the bad guys and breaking through the lines.
