Cristiano Ronaldo broke down in tears on the field after Al-Nassr lost the Saudi King’s Cup final to rivals Al-Hilal in a spot shootout on Friday.
The heartbreaking loss, which happened after a 5-4 penalty shootout, meant that Al-Nassr didn’t win any trophies all season, while Al-Hilal won the Roshn Saudi League, the Saudi Super Cup, and the Saudi King’s Cup.
Ronaldo, who has been in Saudi Arabia for a season and a half but hasn’t won a big trophy there, collapsed onto the field at the end of the game and was comforted by three staff members. He then sat in the dugout, still crying.
Aleksandar Mitrović’s early header put Al Hilal ahead for most of the game, and they got an extra edge when Al-Nassr goalkeeper David Ospina got sent off in the 56th minute.
But it was also down to 10 players when Ali Al-Bulaihi was sent off in the 87th minute. A minute later, Ayman Yahya scored an equalizer for Al-Nassr, sending the game into extra time.

After Kalidou Koulibaly was sent off for getting two yellow cards, Al-Hilal played most of extra time with one less player, but they refused to give up another goal, and the game ended in a dramatic spot shootout.
Ronaldo made his penalty kick, but he had to watch as Yassine Bounou, the Moroccan goalie, stopped Al-Nassr’s last two penalties to win for his team.
Ronaldo scored 35 goals earlier this week, making him the all-time top scorer in a single Saudi Pro League season. However, his team lost.
