The Magpies are apparently making progress in their pursuit to sign Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.

There are rumors that Newcastle United have made an offer to sign 21-year-old Burnley goalie James Trafford, but Anthony Gordon has already made up his mind about the player.

The Mail says that United have made a £16 million offer for Trafford, who used to play for Manchester City. He is seen as a long-term replacement for Nick Pope at St. James’ Park. Trafford is worth more to Burnley, though, at around £20m.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich, who just hired Vincent Kompany as their new manager after being manager of Southampton, have all been mentioned with a move for him this summer.

Trafford was recently left off Gareth Southgate’s preliminary 33-man team for Euro 2024. He has yet to play for England at the senior level, but he did shine during their win at the Under-21 European Championship last summer.

During that event, Trafford didn’t let in a single goal. He even saved a late penalty in the final to keep his perfect record and help Lee Carsley’s team win the trophy. Speaking about Trafford after the final, Anthony Gordon, who won the tournament’s player of the tournament, said that his partner was “incredible”: Gordon said, “I trust him completely to keep everything safe at this point.”

“He has been great the whole tournament.” As a goalkeeper, he might have won player of the event, which is crazy. Not given up a goal all event.

Newcastle had been mentioned with Aaron Ramsdale of Arsenal and Giorgi Mamardashvili, a goalkeeper for Valencia. However, both may be too expensive for them to sign this summer.
