It’s clear that Arsenal would love to make big moves again this summer, but Mikel Arteta and Edu can’t because they can’t afford it.
Because of this, players like Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres, and Joao Neves, who have all been tied to Emirates Stadium and would cost a lot of money to join, are not likely to sign. Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak, both of Newcastle, are also in this group, and Arsenal is very interested in both of them.
Arsenal, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain are among the teams interested in signing Guimaraes, who has a £100 million release clause that runs until the end of June. Isak, on the other hand, doesn’t have a clear asking price, but several stories say that Newcastle would be happy to accept an offer of around £150 million.
Even though both players would make Arsenal much better, there is no sign that they will use Guimaraes’ release option or try to sign Isak. Following their £200 million spending last summer, it is very clear that Arsenal can’t spend any more money to keep up with the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
These things were made very clear by Arteta when he recently talked about new signings. “[We] look again,” Arteta told CNN about the moves. “All the numbers, squad-wise, the way we do things at the football club, our method, especially how we can make our players better, more competitive, more consistent, and raise the level and be better than they were last season.”
“I believe we should concentrate on what we already have in-house.” What can we do to get better? We want those guys to keep getting better, because there are still gaps and players who can grow.
“We’re going to make every choice with the goal of getting better without changing who we are or what got us to where we are now as a football club and team.” There is a drive to succeed. Both the players and the staff. You can feel it. They need a lot more. That’s the next step; they want to start pulling weights.
Arteta’s trade hint is as harsh as it gets, and it’s possible that no new players are added. But there are options that are less expensive out there. Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig is one of those players that Arsenal is very interested in.
Chelsea and Manchester United, two teams in the same Premier League, have also been interested in the Slovenian player, who has a £55 million release clause in his deal. The German club wants to keep him and has offered him a new contract.
