Arsenal wants to sign Jean-Clair Todibo this summer, but Manchester United also wants him.
The defense for Erik ten Hag’s team had a terrible season; they gave up an unbelievable 85 goals across all tournaments. This needs to be fixed if they want to come close to matching their goals in the Premier League and Europe next season.
The loss of Raphael Varane has also made it much more important for the club to sign another center back or two. Jarrad Branthwaite has been mentioned to the club the most. It was also said last night that United and the England player had agreed on personal terms.
Reports say that Everton will not lower their ridiculously high asking price of over £70 million, so the Red Devils may have to look elsewhere.
Last summer, there were a lot of rumors that the club wanted to sign Jean-Clair Todibo. This summer, they are also said to be very interested in him. His lower price tag and the fact that INEOS owns his present club, OGC Nice, should make the deal much easier than it was for Branthwaite.
However, SPORT say that United may have more trouble getting the Frenchman soon.
“Barça needs extraordinary income to be able to go to the summer market under the 1:1 rule,” says the Catalan outlet. Selling former player Todibo would help a lot; they would get €10 million of the possible €50 million the defender would fetch.
Arsenal’s coach Mikel Arteta wants to add a top-level player to his defense to make it stronger. Edú, the Gunners’ sports director, has Nice center-back Jean Claire Todibo on his list of people to talk to.
“Now that the summer transfer window is open, Todibo is back in the lead, getting Arsenal excited about ending Manchester City’s dominance in the English League.”
The Premier League, especially Manchester United, is interested in Todibo because of how far he has come and have tried to sign him in each of the last two transfer openings.
Arsenal’s possible interest in the player could be a problem, since they are a club on the rise and can give the player a spot in the Champions League.
“Impressive center back who can dominate opposition center forwards and defend attacking situations expertly,” is how Todibo has been described.
