Celtic F.C captain Callum McGregor replied back to ex-Rangers coach Graeme Sounes criticism of his performance during the Germany vs Scotland match defeat (5-1) in the Euro 2024

Callum McGregor, captain of Celtic, responded to Graeme Souness’s criticism of him for how he played for Scotland against Germany at Euro 2024. Souness used to run Rangers.

The football world was watching the first group game, which was Scotland’s first game at the event in Munich against the hosts.

There were a lot of hopes and expectations for the game, but Steve Clarke’s team lost badly, 5-1, which is the worst score ever for the first game in a UEFA run tournament.

The whole Scotland team did not play well, but former Rangers boss Graeme Souness was especially harsh on the Celtic captain.

McGregor “personally” agrees with Sounsess’s opinion.

In his review of the game afterwards, Souness ripped into McGregor for his part in the loss, even though Scotland as a whole failed to stop the dominant German team.

Souness told ITV Football, “Gundogan again, great turn, he slips Havertz in, back to Musiala, wrong-foots the Celtic captain again, that’s two in one move.”

“He tries to nick it here, Callum McGregor, and he comes back in and tries to nick it again. Stay on the goal line and stop trying to score.”

As soon as McGregor talked about how he felt about the game, the reporters there asked him what he thought about the criticism. The Celtic captain promised to show Souness that he was wrong.

It was McGregor who told The Scottish Sun, “Yes, you do.” Someone making fun of you should make you feel bad, and you should try to show them they’re wrong. “Okay, then.”

One thing you can be sure of about Callum McGregor is that he will get over Souness’s criticism.

The Celtic leader is naturally good at winning, and he had to deal with a lot of the same criticism last season as the media focused on Rangers’ chances of winning the title.

McGregor showed his doubters wrong by doing what he said he would do on the field and winning both the league and the Scottish Cup.

In the next two games at the Euros, against Switzerland and Hungary, I’m sure the hoops star will do the same for Scotland to help them get a double.

Manager of the Scotland national team Steve Clarke reveals the name of Celtic F.C player he must start with to win their match against Switzerland on Wednesday in the Euro 2024 tournament

Graeme Souness, the former manager of Rangers, said some strange things about the Celtic captain right after the game. McGregor has promised to use this criticism as inspiration to show his doubters they are wrong.

Scotland needs to beat Switzerland next if they want to keep their hopes of making it out of the group rounds alive. Pat Nevin has backed the Celtic captain to start against Switzerland.

In their 5-1 loss in Munich, the Germans showed how good they were. Callum McGregor and Anthony Ralston both played in the game.

Scotland lost their first Euro 2024 group game to Germany, and Steve Clarke and the Celtic players on the team are still hurting from it.
Nevin agrees that Scotland has a problem on Ralston’s side of the defense and thinks that the Celtic captain must start the important Group A match if Scotland is to beat Switzerland.

Clarke “really needs” to start McGregor against Switzerland.

Nevin told Football Daily, “He [Steve Clarke] will look at the game again.” He is going to really think about the choices he has made. In some places, he doesn’t have many choices.

“What are you going to do in the next game?” The Swiss will also put someone out there on the left side to try to get something else done because I promised you that.

There’s also a good chance that Gilmour and McGregor will play center for Scotland in their next game. That’s because they need the ball so badly.

Callum McGregor has been a big part of all of Scotland’s recent wins under Steve Clarke.

The Dark Blues manager put the Celtic captain in charge of all but one of Scotland’s games in qualifying for Euro 2020 and 2024.

His big-game experience with Celtic in both the Premier League and the Champions League will be very important for Scotland on Wednesday night, and I can’t wait for McGregor to play so well that Souness has to take back what he said after Scotland lost to Germany.
