“I didn’t play any games” – Yankuba Minteh officially sends out farewell message to Newcastle United F.C after his move to Brighton & Hove Albion F.C.

The forward Yankuba Minteh called his short time at Newcastle United a “good thing” because it helped him reach his goal of playing in the Premier League.

Minteh moved from Newcastle to Brighton for £33 million over the weekend. It’s been a little more than a year since the Gambia international moved from Odense to Newcastle. As the black-and-whites desperately tried to raise money before the PSR deadline, it was one of the most important sales in Newcastle’s recent history.

Few people thought that would happen when Newcastle beat other teams to sign Minteh for only £5.8m last summer. The club put a lot of work into the deal, including scouting the 19-year-old for months, researching his background, and making a career plan that included a smart loan move to Feyenoord.

Newcastle United tried to get money before the PSR deadline by selling Yankuba Minteh to Brighton last week. The forward has clearly seen the bigger picture as he has now signed with another Premier League team.

Loans manager Shola Ameobi and assistant manager Peter Ramage kept in touch with Minteh and took him on several research trips to the Netherlands. They told him how Eddie Howe wanted to play and “how things are done” in Newcastle. Minteh hurt his hamstring in October and was taken over to the Magpies’ training ground to be checked out, meet players and staff, and watch the Champions League game at St. James’ Park against Borussia Dortmund.

“I moved to a new club in the Premier League.” I now have the chance to play in the Premier League.

Even though Minteh never got to train at Newcastle or play for the team, it’s clear that the mature 19-year-old has seen the bigger picture since moving to Brighton.

“It was great to move to a Premier League club,” he told the news team at Brighton about his time at Newcastle. “It was good for me, even though I didn’t play any games there.” Take a look at where I am.
