Brendan Rodgers has been in conversation with Watford regarding Rocco Vata’s potential departure this summer, following Celtic’s attempts to secure him with a new contract.

Vata made his professional début for the Bhoys in 2022 under the guidance of Ange Postecoglou. However, there was perpetual transfer rumors surrounding him, and there was always speculation of a potential departure.

He has pledged his future to the English Championship club, and Celtic will only receive training compensation as a consequence.

The youthful attacker subsequently disclosed on Instagram that he believed he had departed the club “earlier than anticipated.”

BREAKING: Before Celtic's departure, Celtic F.C. 51 year-old Brendan Rodgers clarifies the future that was offered to Rocco Vata.

Rodgers has verified that the Bhoys did exert an effort to retain him at the club and extended an offer of employment within the first-team squad. It seems that Vata was being considered for a role that was comparable to that of Hyeongyu Oh.

The Celtic manager addresses the departure of Rocco Vata.
Rodgers stated [Herald Sport, 12/07 print edition, page 6]: “Daniel Kelly and Rocco Vata were both offered a good deal, which is valued and treated with the utmost respect. I have worked with young players and am familiar with their technical and financial capabilities.”

“The club extended offers to both of those young men.” Rocco was informed that he would be one of the three attackers at Celtic and was offered the position. He determined that it was not suitable for him. Thus, he subsequently departed Celtic. That is entirely acceptable, and we extend our fondest wishes to him.

It is not desirable to witness a young talent with first-team potential depart the club at the age of 19, but Celtic may not have much of a choice if they believe they made a reasonable offer in terms of both financial and developmental considerations and he declined.

It will be intriguing to observe Vata’s performance in the English Championship and the number of minutes he plays for Watford this season.

The Bhoys’ manager continued to elaborate on the current circumstances that Kelly is experiencing, as her contract is set to expire at the conclusion of the calendar year. Additionally, it does not appear to be optimistic in that regard.

Celts continue to encounter challenges in bridging the gap between the senior squad and the Academy divisions. Talents either fail to demonstrate the necessary growth or depart for more distinguished divisions.

Hopefully, the club’s key personnel can identify a solution to this frustrating pattern.
