The player Arsenal was interested in but turned down a move to the club this summer has explained why he made his choice.
RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko has talked about why he chose to stay with the German club even though Arsenal made a very good offer of £55 million to sign him. Last season, the 21-year-old scored 18 goals across all categories. He said he wanted to get more experience and learn more before moving to a bigger club.
Many people were surprised when Sesko chose to stay at Leipzig, especially since Arsenal was ready to pay the £55 million release clause.
That being said, the young striker thinks that keeping put will help him improve his skills and become a world-class player.
“I gave it a lot of thought.”It was clear that Arsenal wanted Sesko, but the club will have to find a new striker somewhere else. The Gunners are already interested in other players who could help them win, such as Nico Williams and Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa.
Arsenal still doesn’t have any new top-flight players, but manager Mikel Arteta recently gave hints that the club wants to add more quality players before the next season because the current team is “too thin.” The Gunners will also want to improve other parts of their team if they want to compete for the Premier League title again and show how good they are in Europe this season, Sesko said. “I think I made the right choice.” To get more knowledge and learn more, I didn’t want to rush things. The club Leipzig is great and can give me what I need to take the next step.
It’s great that Sesko wants to keep improving at Leipzig, and Arsenal fans will probably accept his choice. Sesko has already shown a lot of ability and potential at just 21 years old. Staying at Leipzig will allow him to keep improving as a player.
