Celtic FC defender Maik Nawrocki latest injury update ahead of their next match against kilmarnock on saturday
Celtic defender Maik Nawrocki had hoped for a good pre-season with the team to get ready for the new season, but that didn’t quite happen.
Legia tried to sign him early, but he chose to fight for his spot in the team instead. He was one of the first players to return to Lennoxtown training.
The center-back was in the starting eleven for the first friendly away to Ayr United, but he had to leave the game after 20 minutes because his calf hurt.
After that, he didn’t play in the game against Queen’s Park and then the whole tour of the United States because he was still recovering.
The good news is that he was seen working again on Friday, just in time for this weekend’s game against Kilmarnock.
Maik Nawrocki is back with Celtic before their game against Kilmarnock.
The defender was photographed by SNS during a group practice at Lennoxtown. He seemed to have recovered from his injury.
Luckily, it didn’t keep him out for too long, and even though he’s still getting fit, he can now fight for a spot on Rodgers’ team again.
Cameron Carter-Vickers and Liam Scales are still the best choices for the middle of the defense. For now, that’s not likely to change, but Nawrocki can make a new push behind the scenes.
The Celtic defense could be made stronger.
People don’t think that Gustaf Lagerbielke and Yuki Kobayashi will have long careers at Celtic, so there could be a lot of ability moving around at center back.
Reports say that the club wants to improve the position before the end of August, with Dara O’Shea being the main link. This means that Nawrocki might have an even harder time getting game time in 2024/25, after only making 13 appearances in his first season.
Whether that leads to him leaving for another team is still unknown, but for now, he’ll be focused on getting fit again and catching Rodgers’ attention.
