Early Sunday morning, Man United plays Liverpool in their last game of their pre-season tour of the United States.
When they play Liverpool this weekend at the Williams-Brice Stadium in South Carolina, Manchester United will be looking to end their pre-season tour of the United States with a win.
Last season, United never lost to Liverpool. This week, they beat Real Betis 3-2 in San Diego for their second win of the pre-season. The goals scored by Marcus Rashford, Amad, and Casemiro helped the team get a well-deserved win.
The win was marred, though, by the news that Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund would be out for a while with injuries. Even Rashford had to leave the game in the second half, but manager Erik ten Hag is hoping that his injury is not too bad.
United’s first game of the season is coming up in just one week, so they probably won’t take any chances with the forward. Antony was taken off at the end of the game against Betis as well.
Andre Onana will want to play in goal again after watching the win over Spain from the bench. Last weekend, the Cameroonian started the first game of the tour against Arsenal and played all 90 minutes.
Since United doesn’t have a regular right back, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is expected to make it five games in a row starting from the back. He has started all four of United’s preseason games so far. Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof played together in the middle of the defense against Betis, and the two could start together again.
One of United’s best players against Betis was Harry Amass, who set up Amad’s goal for the third goal. He should keep his spot, but Sam Murray will be pushing him to start at left back.
Ten Hag changed up his center this week by giving Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay their first preseason starts. It looks like Casemiro will stay where he started at the bottom of the engine room. Mason Mount and Toby Collyer could both come back.
While Hojlund is out, Rashford might not be put at risk, so there are open spots in the attack. Amad will definitely play on the right, and Ethan Wheatley could come in through the middle, which would mean that Jadon Sancho would have to line up on the left.
United predicted XI vs Liverpool: Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Amass; Casemiro, Collyer, Mount; Amad, Wheatley, Sancho.
