Even though Arsenal beat the German champions 4-1, Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso still thinks his team will win the Premier League.
Alonso is sure that Arsenal will be a strong contender for the Premier League title again this season after seeing his Bayer Leverkusen team lose badly by a score of 4-1. Going head-to-head with Manchester City until the very end of the season, the Gunners almost won the title.
Arsenal has been pretty cautious in the transfer market this summer, even though they came in second place for the second year in a row. So far, Riccardo Calafiori is the only big player they’ve signed.
Even though Arsenal didn’t have any new players, that didn’t stop them from playing very well against the current Bundesliga winners. Oleksandr Zinchenko, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus, and Kai Havertz all scored goals to give the Gunners a big win last night.
After seeing Arsenal play, Alonso was asked if they would be title contenders again. He replied, “First, talking about the game, it wasn’t a good performance from our side.” Even though I’m not happy, I might be glad that it happened today. It will definitely wake you up.
“This is a brand-new season, and we’re at the beginning.” They were way below what we normally expect. It will not be possible if we don’t raise the bar in games of this level.
Alonso also said nice things about Arsenal’s work under Mikel Arteta, saying, “Arsenal, for sure, it’s not just about last year.” A project has been being worked on, and Mikel is in charge of a great group of people at a great club. It will be hard for them with the big ones for sure. City, Liverpool, and other teams will be there.
Also, Arsenal’s US tour ended with a loss to Liverpool last week, so Arteta was thrilled to help his team get back to winning ways in front of their own fans at the Emirates Stadium.
He said, “We can take a lot of good things from both the game and the result.” “There were many good things about how we did, both as a group and as individuals.” It looks like we’ll learn a lot from it. Also, we can learn a lot from it, especially since we made seven changes in the second half. However, the game against a well-coached team was a good test, and the team did well overall.
