“Good to get back out there.” Newcastle United player Kieran Trippier sends out an inspiring message after their 1-0 win against Stade Brestois at the friendly match.

For the first time since March, Newcastle United was led by Kieran Trippier at St James’ Park, where they defeated Stade Brestois 1-0 in their final friendly match.
The Sela Cup was lifted by Trippier and Bruno Guimaraes at St James’ Park after Harvey Barnes scored the sole goal of the contest after 15 minutes. It was Trippier’s inaugural home match as Newcastle captain since suffering a calf injury against Wolverhampton Wanderers five months ago.

On Tuesday, the 33-year-old and Anthony Gordon resumed pre-season training with Newcastle after being granted additional time off to represent England at Euro 2024 in Germany.

“Good to get back out there.” Newcastle United player Kieran Trippier sends out an inspiring message after their 1-0 win against Stade Brestois at the friendly match.

Gordon scored a goal and played 45 minutes in the 4-0 victory over Girona at St James’ Park on Friday night. Trippier began the Brest match and played 70 minutes on Saturday.

“We have had to manage the minutes of Anthony and Kieran, who were the most recent players to return to the team,” Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe stated in an interview with The Gazette. “Anthony was 45 minutes into the match against Girona on Friday. Kieran was eager to continue, and we permitted him to do so because the game was not particularly transitional. I observed that he appeared to be in good physical condition, and I believed that it was a successful day for him.”

Trippier posted images of himself in action for the first time at Newcastle this summer on social media following the match. He accompanied the images with the caption, “It’s good to be back out there.”

The right-back is currently in the final year of his contract at St James’ Park and has been associated with a potential departure this summer. Newcastle declined a £12.8 million offer from Bayern Munich in January, and the Saudi Pro League continues to express interest in the England international this summer.
