That’s it, folks. Jude Araujo, a defender who joined Barcelona 18 months ago, has left the club to join AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League.
The club said in a release, “FC Barcelona and AFC Bournemouth have agreed to sell Julián Araujo to the English club for 10 million euros.”
“FC Barcelona thanks Araujo in public for his hard work and dedication and wishes him the best of luck in the future.”
The 22-year-old Araujo moved from LA Galaxy to Barcelona in January of last year, but he didn’t play any competitive football for the first six months because FIFA didn’t approve his transfer because the necessary paperwork wasn’t turned in on time.
Once the deal was official in the summer, Araujo left Barcelona to play on loan for UD Las Palmas under Garcia Pimienta. He had a good season there.
As soon as Araujo got back to Barcelona this summer, fans thought he would play for the first team under new boss Hansi Flick, but that didn’t happen.
Araujo leaves Barcelona for a transfer fee of about €10 million, and Barcelona does not have the choice to buy him back or a sell-on clause for the future.
