Manchester City Loanee Kalvin Phillips breaks silence and sent a clear message to his manager Pep Guardiola after loan move to Ipswich
Kalvin Phillips said, “I’m very happy to be here. This is the day I’ve been waiting for a few weeks.” Phillips had just completed a loan move to Ipswich, putting his nightmare with Manchester City on hold for another year.
During Phillips’ two years at City, he has been hurt, had bad form, and been scolded in public by boss Pep Guardiola because of his weight. The former England international played in two games in midfield and two at center back during City’s pre-season tour of the USA. However, he didn’t play in the Community Shield and is now in a fight to stay in the Premier League instead of a title race.
Phillips’ first comments as an Ipswich player showed that he didn’t see a way for himself to progress at the Etihad this season, which gives us a good idea of how he feels about coming back to City.
“I’d like to play as many games as possible, enjoy football again, and help the team win as many Premier League games as possible,” he said.
Phillips’s new boss, Keiran McKenna, made a reference to his problems at City and said it was his job to help the 28-year-old rebuild his career. She said, “Like all the other players who come here, we want to help them get better, no matter how old they are or how young they are.”
“We really value that, and we’re sure Kalvin can take some big steps with us to help him and the Club have a great season.”
