After Spain won Euro 2024, Marc Cucurella made fun of Erling Haaland, a striker for Manchester City. But Haaland got back at Cucurella at Stamford Bridge.

After being teased by the European Championship winner this summer, Marc Cucurella, Erling Haaland had the perfect answer on the field at Stamford Bridge, and he also had a biting response off the field.

Cucurella celebrated Spain’s win over Germany by singing a famous terrace chant that makes fun of Haaland and then praises him. The first thing City did against Chelsea was send a high ball to Haaland so he could beat the small left back.

The striker then beat Cucurella to score City’s first goal. Late in the game, the left back was replaced to chants of “Haaland, Haaland, Haaland” from the away fans. When Cucurella walked past those fans to get to the bench, they booed him.

“Cucu cucu-rella, he eats paella, Cucu cucu-rella, he drinks Estrella, Haaland you better shake because Cucurella is coming!” was his chant as Spain celebrated their 2-1 win over England in the final in Berlin.

If you asked Haaland about it after the game, he played it down, but he did give a harsh insult by telling Norwegian TV that Cucurella had asked him for his shirt last season.

“That guy’s (Cucurella) song was pretty cool,” He told VG, “There’s not that much to say.” “That doesn’t bother me.” He is free to do what he wants. He asked me for my shirt last year, and now he’s singing about me.

Haaland got his fifth goal on the first day of the season in the win over Chelsea. He then said that he had enjoyed a quiet summer because Norway did not make it to the European Championship.

“With all due respect, the only good thing about not being in the Euros is that it’s given me a good break and pre-season.” He also said, “Now I’m ready to go again.”

“It’s hard on the body and mind when there are that many games.” The last international game I played was on June 8 against Denmark. After that, I just wanted to relax and turn off my body totally. Then to turn it back on again during the off-season. It’s funny the way things are.
