Brendan Rodgers breaks silence and explains the reason why Kyogo Furuhashi was absent from the Celtic vs. Hibernian match clash

Kyogo Furuhashi will be evaluated early this week because he missed Celtic’s game at home against Hibernian on Sunday.

The striker’s shoulder popped out at Easter Road last weekend. This is a problem that the Japanese star has had for years and keeps happening.

Brendan Rodgers said the problem isn’t serious enough to keep him out for a long time, but the Celtic boss didn’t want to take a chance since there were other players who could play in the Scottish League Cup match.

The Bhoys won the game without losing a player, and Daizen Maeda scored two important goals in Kyogo’s place. It’s safe to say Rodgers’ call paid off.

As long as he chooses not to have surgery, though, it will be a problem for both the player and the club.

When asked about his absence on BBC Radio Scotland before the game, Rodgers said, “It’s clear that he hurt his shoulder last weekend, so he doesn’t feel 100%, whereas normally he feels ready to go again.”

“He’s had or dealt with this problem from Japan, so we didn’t need to take a chance on it this weekend.” During the preseason, he’s been great.

“For this one, especially having Adam Idah back—he’s not quite fit or where we want him to be yet, but he’s an option, and that gives us time to heal Kyogo.”

Surgery can fix the Kyogo problem for good.
When asked if the issue could be fixed for good, the Celtic manager said, “It might be if he has surgery.” That is up to him, though. It’s clear that he hasn’t wanted that for a long time. “He did a great job with it, but today we don’t need to take any risks.”

Rodgers told Premier Sports that Kyogo will be checked out this week at Lennoxtown to see if he is ready for next week’s away game against St. Mirren.

The process should have been done during the off-season, but it hasn’t been done for a reason that doesn’t need to be made public.

Kyogo has been through this before and was able to get back to his normal form, so everyone is hoping he can get over it again and lead the Bhoys to victory.
