Celtic have been in the news a lot this week because Man City is said to be interested in Kyogo Furuhashi.

Fans of Celtic have been getting ready for the chance that Matt O’Riley will go to Brighton. I would even go so far as to say that they are okay with it.

It would be terrible for Celtic fans to lose their top scorer in the same season. But Peter Grant doesn’t believe this rumor.

Former Celtic star says that fans of the Hoops should be glad that Man City is interested in Kyogo Furuhashi. Here, he explains why.

Grant isn’t sure if Kyogo can take the place of Alvarez.

Grant thinks it’s a good thing that Pep Guardiola wants Kyogo, but the former Celtic player isn’t sure if the Japanese scorer can directly replace Julian Alvarez, who left City to join Atletico Madrid.

Grant told The Go Radio Football Show, “Listen, if that’s true, it means that Manchester City, which is probably the best club team in the world, not just Europe, is interested in one of your players. That means you’re doing something right.”

“As I keep saying, I hope that everyone is interested in Celtic players. That means they’re doing their job right, winning trophies, and letting their best players shine.”

It’s our hope that we can keep them, but he’s a really great player. However, I’m not sure about Manchester City level because I believe he is very different from Alvarez.

“And I don’t think that will happen if they’re getting them to replace that person.”

Many news sources say that Kyogo is not going to City to become their major striker because they already have Erlin Haaland.

But Grant’s main point is bittersweet, even though it’s right on the mark. If Celtic didn’t do well, teams like Manchester City wouldn’t even bother to play our players.

Even though it would be sad to lose Kyogo, no Celtic fan would turn down the chance to work with some of the best players in the world under Pep Guardiola if he came calling.
