Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero delivers an eight-word comment on Rodri’s nomination for the Ballon d’Or award this year

Rodri is up for the Ballon d’Or, and Manchester City hopes that he wins it and becomes the first player in the club’s history to do so. Erling Haaland came in second place in 2023.

Rodri should win the Ballon d’Or, say City fans who are spreading the word on social media.

He said that Rodri should win the Ballon d’Or over Vinicius Jr. and Jude Bellingham as well.

In 2022, Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City was the last playmaker to finish in the top three. He came in third, behind Sadio Mane and Karim Benzema.

Some players, like Lotthar Matthaus and Matthias Sammer, who like to attack, like Luka Modric, Kaka, and Pavel Nedved, are more likely to win the award.

So, it’s possible that the odds are against Rodri.

An Aguero message about the Ballon d’Or is sent to an old Man City teammate
When it comes to awards like the Ballon d’Or and the PFA Players’ Player of the Year, forwards tend to win.

One could say that in football, the number six spot is the most important.

It’s impossible for a great team to work without a world-class holding midfielder. Sergio Busquets anchors Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona defense, Casemiro plays the base of Real Madrid’s midfield, and Rodri has been the star of Manchester City’s recent campaigns.

Still, award shows for individuals don’t seem to recognize how important defensive midfielders are to the success of a team.

On the other hand, Sergio Aguero sent Rodri a message because he was up for the Ballon d’Or.

Through a translator, Aguero wrote on X, “A perfect year, you deserve it.” Hey Rodri, come on.

Pablo Zabaleta wrote on X that the man who makes £220,000 a week is “vital for club and country.”

Rodri is likely to be one of the top three players in the Ballon d’Or race.
There is still no guarantee that Rodri will win the Ballon d’Or, but it looks like he will at least be one of the top three players.

Because the Spanish player has been a big part of both Manchester City’s and Spain’s successes this year, he is one of the top candidates to win the award itself.

That will be clear next month if that means Rodri has done enough to win the award, but since there is a lot of talk about him also getting the Ballon d’Or, many of the voters may feel the same way.

For players, being named one of the three best in the world must be an honor in the end.

Rodri should feel proud even if he doesn’t win the Ballon d’Or. He should be happy just making it into the top three.

The four-time Premier League winner will be given the award along with two other great players who also had great seasons if he makes it into the top three.
