Celtic midfielder Paulo Bernardo sends out a 24-word message after Portugal 2-0 victory over Croatia in the Nations League
Paulo Bernardo, a defender for Celtic, led Portugal Under-21 to a crucial 2-0 win over Croatia last night in EURO 2025 qualifying.
The player from Almada scored the first goal in what turned out to be an easy Selecao win. He used his weaker foot to finish off a cutback.
Carlos Forbs, a winger for Wolverhampton Wanderers, doubled Portugal’s lead just under ten minutes later. With four points, Portugal moved ahead of Greece at the top of Group G.
After the game, Bernardo shared a picture on Instagram with the words “Another great win!” “We’re still together!” he exclaimed after helping his country win a very important battle.
He also spoke out after the game, after a great showing in the engine room that will no doubt make the Celtic fans happy.
Paulo Bernardo on Portugal’s win over 21 teams
Bernardo told the official website of the Portugal national team how happy he was to get all three points at a tough away venue.
He said [FPF]: “It was a tough game.” They have a good team. It was harder than in Portugal because the field wasn’t in good shape. The winner was us, and we earned it.
Bernardo went on to say this about the second half: “We had a little more quality in the last pass and the shot.” Things were going well for us already, but the last third was missing something. We were able to bring that into the second half.
“We trained well this week and made good progress on our dynamics, which we then used on the field.” It wasn’t just the first goal that was a great move. It didn’t work out, but we could have done more.
The boss trusts me, so I’m here to do my best. If he puts me on the field, I try to do my best.
Bernardo once again delivered for Portugal. He will now try to get back to Celtic and keep his spot in the starting lineup after a great game against Rangers before the break. You can see his goal below on Canal 11 on X.
This season, the Bhoys have a lot of games to play, and Brendan Rodgers will see him as a key player now that Matt O’Riley has left.
The player who used to play for Benfica should keep up his good form as Celtic try to win on multiple fronts.
As many people had hoped, his first few days as a regular employee have been very exciting. However, he still has a lot of work to do because there is a lot of competition for jobs in the engine room.
