25-year-old Arsenal midfielder Martin Ødegaard reveals the name of his closest friend at Arsenal
Marten Odegaard, the captain of Arsenal, has talked about his best friend at the North London club, both on and off the field.
Martin Ødegaard, the captain of Arsenal, has said who his best friend is at the club. This shows how close the team is. He joined Arsenal from Real Madrid for £30 million in 2021 and has become one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. He is also a very important person for the team, both on and off the field.
The 25-year-old Norwegian talent was made club captain in July 2022. Fans were skeptical at first because they wanted a leader like Tony Adams and Patrick Vieira, who were both legendary Arsenal players. But Ödegaard has done even better than expected, becoming the team’s most important leader and the center of Arsenal’s middle.
Since becoming captain, Ødegaard has scored 35 goals and set up 25 others, helping Arsenal stay ahead of Manchester City in the Premier League title race. Now that the team is settled and full of confidence, Ødegaard has made strong friendships within the group. He recently revealed that his best friend at the club is another player named Kai Havertz.Since Havertz moved to the Emirates, Ødegaard and he have become very good friends. Last summer, Havertz moved from Chelsea to Arsenal for £65 million. He wanted to be an important part of Mikel Arteta’s new middle with Anders Ødegaard and Declan Rice.
In a Q&A with TV2 while on international duty with Norway, Ødegaard was asked to answer a number of questions with just one word. He said “Kai Havertz” when asked about his best friend at Arsenal.
Havertz had a rough start to his time in north London, but Arteta changed his strategy and he did great as a striker in the second half of the season. The German player finished the Premier League season with nine goals and six assists in 14 games. He has continued to improve this season, scoring two goals and setting up another.
In the same way, Ødegaard had a rough patch near the end of 2023, but his form got a lot better after the New Year. Many people praised him for how creative and forward-thinking he was in keeping Arsenal in the running for the Premier League title.
Their friendship goes beyond the field as well. Hasertz shared a picture of the two of them playing cards on a boat while on vacation over the summer. Havertz put a boat emoji and the word “Recharging” as a description on the post. Ødegaard replied with a raised hands emoji and the word “brother.”
Even though Ödegaard and Havertz have been great together on the field, Arsenal will not have their leader for the upcoming North London derby. Ødegaard hurt himself in Norway’s UEFA Nations League game against Austria, so he can’t play in Sunday’s important match against Tottenham Hotspur.
