“mystery uncovered”: Cristiano Ronaldo’s hidden tale of how he yelled at Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag
This week, a podcast came out that added to Erik ten Hag and Cristiano Ronaldo’s war of words.
Because of the way media works now, Ronaldo had to start a YouTube page. He also recently had a conversation with his old teammate Rio Ferdinand.
After giving a shocking interview to Piers Morgan, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner had to leave United in a big way in November 2022. There was no going back.
The whole world was watching, and Ten Hag’s authority was called into question, but he dealt with Ronaldo in a tough way, and the forward ran away to Saudi Arabia.
The interview between Ronaldo and Morgan was amazing, and Ten Hag handled it with class. However, it’s been talked about again this week because of what he said on the show.
Ronaldo gave a new take on his decision to leave Real Madrid: “To prove that I’m right or wrong, this is no longer my issue.” When I say what I need to, it’s over for me. But to be honest, I want the same things for myself as I do for Manchester. Again, they put together the best team they can, and I love that club. I’m not the type of person who forgets about the past.
“I was very happy when I was back there.” It was great to score so well. When I was with the club, I did crazy things. In my first year with 37, I scored the third most points in the league. I got all the points in the group stage. I scored in every game. I got 17 or 18 goals even in the league. I did really well.
“But, Manchester, as I told you, I think they need to rebuild everything.” The boss, they say they can’t win both the League and the Champions League. That’s not possible, Manchester United coach. You have to say that you’re not going to try to win the League or the Champions League. You have to be able to say in your head, “Listen, maybe we don’t have that potential,” but I can’t. We’re likely to try. You need to try.
“This team needs time to get back on track. They’re still one of the best in the world, but they need to make changes.” They know that. This is the only way. This is why they show, they start to change everything again: the president, the structure of the club, and everything else. The people who own the club. They’re putting money into the practice field…I’m happy that things are changing, but I’m not happy with how they’re happening. That’s just life, and we can’t always control what happens.
He told the press on Thursday, “He said that Manchester United can’t win the Premier League.” Ten Hag replied, “He said that.” He said this if you really read the piece. He’s in Saudi Arabia, which is a long way from Manchester. Everyone can say what they think. It’s all right.”
Everyone knows that Ten Hag and Ronaldo didn’t get along during their short time together, but there is a story that hasn’t been told that shows how cold their relationship really was.
Ten Hag told Ronaldo to take out an expensive earring, and Ronaldo got angry when he was told to do something he didn’t want to do.
It’s known that Ten Hag and Ronaldo had a power struggle from the start of their relationship, and the earring problem made things worse over time.
When Ronaldo trained with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick, he wore an earring. But Ten Hag had a different rule and told his players they couldn’t wear jewelry.
That is thought to have caused some early tension between Ronaldo and Ten Hag, and it led to a response from the 39-year-old that shocked everyone.
Ten Hag had enough of Ronaldo trying to wear his earring, so he told Steve McClaren, who used to be his assistant coach, to stop it for good. McClaren tried to talk things out with Ronaldo in a friendly way, but Ronaldo reacted by throwing his thousand-pound earrings into a bush.
Ten Hag and Ronaldo have never gotten along, and it was never going to get better.
