Reason why Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta shouted at Bukayo Saka during their match win against Tottenham Hotspur (0-1)
The game plan by Mikel Arteta worked brilliantly as Arsenal won at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs lost 1-0 to Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, making sure that Arsenal stayed in touch with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.
Spurs didn’t have many clear-cut chances in the second half, so Gabriel’s header was enough for the Gunners. “Obviously very happy,” Mikkel Arteta said after the game.”We know how important it is for our team and our community to win the North London Derby.” We have the power to make them very happy, which we should have done.
“During the performance, there were times when we did well and times when we had to work hard.” We lost because the plan had to be changed because we didn’t have enough people. I loved it. The team became more and more eager to play that game as soon as we heard that news. People at the club should act in a certain way because it looks good. This week is going to be hard, but instead of making excuses, we did the opposite. We were ready for the task, played with bravery, and knew we had what it took to win the game.
Arteta said that he had to change his game plan just a few days before the match because several stars on the first team got hurt while on international service. Martin Odegaard hurt his ankle while with Norway, which made things even worse for Arteta. Declan Rice was already banned. Riccardo Calafiori and Oleksandr Zinchenko were also not in the team for the North London Derby because they were both hurt in the calf.
“I looked ahead to Spurs for four or five days and I had a super clear plan how to do it,” he said. “I planned all the meetings, trainings, and other events.” I then learned that we had lost a player, then another player, and then another player. I had to totally change the plan to fit the players we had available. So, it was a very tough task.
After the changes, it was clear that Arteta was okay with his team sitting back and letting Tottenham have a lot of the ball. The Gunners were able to defend well because of this, and Spurs had a hard time getting through the away team’s 4-4-2 shape without the ball.
In fact, there was a time in the first half when Arsenal’s style of play at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium looked great. Arteta was heard yelling at Bukayo Saka because the English player wasn’t exactly where his boss wanted him to be. It looked like Arteta was telling Saka to move inside so that the team would be more tight and make it harder for Tottenham to play through the lines.
There were cameras on Sky Sports that showed the Spaniard yelling at different players and making a lot of different hand movements during the game. The Spaniard’s words to his team must have worked because Arsenal won 1-0 after a tough game.
Arsenal’s next league game is at Etihad Stadium, where they will play Man City. The match between Pep Guardiola’s team and Arsenal next Sunday should be very exciting, since City are two points ahead of Arsenal in the Premier League.
