Arsenal news: Leandro Trossard was sent off just before halftime, and Mikel Arteta got another red card.

On the last second of the half, Leandro Trossard, a defender for Arsenal, was sent off against Manchester City for getting a second yellow card. After tackling Bernardo Silva, the Belgian player kicked the ball away, which got him another yellow card.

It looked like Trossard was about to back out of the hoof, but he went through with it anyway and sent it off the field. Not long before this, Declan Rice was also sent off early in Arsenal’s draw with Brighton.

It was confirmed on the Premier League match center Twitter/X account that the yellow card wasn’t for the first foul on Silva. It said, “The referee issued a second yellow card to Leandro Trossard for delaying the restart.” When Mikel Arteta’s team got the ball, they already had a big lead away to the winners.

When Trossard was sent off, Arsenal had 45 minutes to protect. The game had already been stopped for six minutes, giving them time to do so. Once again, the away players were shocked, and Arteta was making a lot of noise on the sidelines.

In a press conference at the Emirates Stadium before the international break, both Rice and Arteta said they were “amazed” by the call to send him off for blocking Joel Veltmen’s free kick.

Rice also pushed the ball away, but he was seen as slowing down the game. When Joao Pedro was not punished for also kicking the ball away earlier in the game, Arsenal’s complaints didn’t stop. In a similar situation against City, Oliver chose not to punish Jeremy Doku.

After an early goal by Erling Haaland, Arsenal was ahead in a very important title match. After a great long-range shot from Riccardo Calafiori, a goal from Gabriel Magalhaes put them ahead.
