While Celtic was beaten 7-1 by Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night, right back Alistair Johnston talked about what he and his teammates will do in response.

It was another loss for the Hoops in Europe; they weren’t even remotely competitive for large parts of last night’s game.

The Bhoys keep getting hammered in Europe because they can’t figure out how to play better against bigger teams away from home.

Four times Brendan Rodgers has been in charge of Celtic in the Champions League, they have given up six goals in one game.

His record in Europe with Glasgow’s green and whites speaks for itself, but he needs to make sure his team moves on from their most recent Euro loss.

Full-back Johnston talked about how his friends will deal with and think about last night’s loss. He said that being honest will help them see the game more clearly.

The Canuck told the BBC, “We’ve got to learn from it.”

“Be honest with ourselves: we’ll watch it again.” Being honest is one of the best things about this group and the coaching team.

“And we need to build on that. We need to know what we did wrong, how they punished us, and what we did right.”

“Unfortunately, there weren’t as many things we did right in this game. But at the same time, there will be little things and moments when we’ll think, “Okay, what’s a little change we need to make in terms of being braver in our positioning and being more compact defensively and things like that?”

Celtic will soon be going to Dingwall, but in Europe, they will want to avoid another late night when they go to Bergamo in a few weeks to play Atalanta in Serie A.

We can’t afford another loss like Tuesday’s against the Europa League winners from last season.

Rodgers and Co. need to get rid of European hammerings for good.
