FC Barcelona has disclosed in its annual financial report for the 2023-24 fiscal year that Sergio Aguero has submitted a conciliation notice to claim €3 million. This is a significant development.

After his premature retirement in 2021 as a result of a heart condition that terminated his playing career, the former Argentine striker claims that the club owes him this sum.

Why did Aguero file a lawsuit against Barcelona?
Agüero alleges that recompense for the termination of his employment is due to him under the terms of his contract following his medical retirement.

On June 21, 2024, Mundo Deportivo reported that a conciliation act was conducted; however, the issue has yet to be resolved.

Barcelona has acknowledged that the claim is currently pending for processing by a Social Court. No official trace of the claim being assigned to a specific court is available to the club as of the report’s date.

This settlement case is not the sole one.
One of the numerous financial obstacles that FC Barcelona is currently facing is this legal dispute with Aguero.

In another instance, Scores Sports Management has initiated litigation to recover €10 million in fees that are purportedly due for the facilitation of Ousmane Dembele’s transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in August 2023.

The club has responded with a defense, contending that PSG fulfilled the €50 million buyout clause, with half of the funds directed to Moussa Sissoko, Dembele’s agent.

In addition, Barça has reached a settlement with Gabriel Milito, a former player who sought €6.9 million in compensation for allegations of unjust dismissal that date back to 2011. Just days prior to the publication of the club’s financial report, the settlement was struck on July 18, 2024.
