“A compliment” – 33 years-old Newcastle United Defender Kieran Trippier breaks silence as Bayern Munich bids revealed and claims clubs new vision this season
Kieran Trippier, a defender for Newcastle United, talked about how busy January was after Bayern Munich bought him last month.
There was interest in Kieran Trippier from Bayern Munich during the January transfer window. He called it “a compliment,” but he is now focused on getting Newcastle United back to the dream land of the Champions League.
Trippier has been playing better since the middle of the season. He helped set up a goal for Bruno Guimaraes and had a hand in another goal for Fabian Schar in Newcastle’s 3-2 win at Nottingham Forest. Bayern made two offers on the England full-back, but he never pushed for the move.
Trippier told reporters after the close win at the City Ground, “There’s always a lot of talk during transfer windows, and the fact that other clubs are interested in our players is a good sign.” Things of all kinds get thrown into the mix every window, but we’re all in it together, we want to end as high as we can this season.
“We’re not giving up on the top four; there are still a lot of points to be won.” We are well aware that it will be tough to close that gap, but in football, anything can happen. The rest of the season will be full of surprises.
“We go into every game with a mentality to win, and it’s going to be hard to finish in the top four because of the teams who are up there, but we’ve still got to play most of them and you never say never.”
