Cameroon FA confirms five-year suspension for Geremi Geremi, who is now 46 years old, has been a member of the National Union of Footballers of Cameroon (Synafoc) since his retirement. However, he is currently facing a protracted ban as a result of a significant disagreement with Samuel Eto’o, the president of the Cameroon FA (FeCafoot) and a renowned Cameroonian footballer.
Geremi was alleged to have engaged in a contentious discussion with a member of Eto’o’s staff during a victory over Gambia at the 2023 African Cup of Nations.

The ethics committee of FeCafoot issued a statement that stated, “We hereby declare Geremi Sorel Njitap, the president of Synafoc, to have violated the conduct regulations of our code of ethics.” In addition to a sanction of ten million West African francs [£13,000], we impose a five-year prohibition on all forms of football activity to him. He has a period of ten days to submit a written appeal.
Daniel Blaise Ngos, Geremi’s assistant, has also been issued a two-year ban and a £6,500 sanction as a consequence of the incident. It has been reported that Geremi intends to appeal the decision and may even pursue his case before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in an effort to reverse it.
