‘A huge fan’ – Paul Merson refutes Arsenal and Alexander Isak’s assertion that Newcastle United supporters will harbour animosity.Alexander Isak may have been Arsenal’s “missing link” in the transfer market, according to Paul Merson.

Newcastle United’s third consecutive victory in all competitions was secured when Isak scored just after halftime at the City Ground, bringing his team level following Murillo’s opener. This event marked the beginning of a second half turnaround by Newcastle United. The Swedish international has scored four goals in his last four games, as he endeavours to overcome a sluggish start to the season.

Merson  his astonishment that the Gunners did not pursue Isak, who has been associated with a potential transfer to the Emirates Stadium, in an interview with Sky Sports prior to Sunday’s match at the City Ground. “I am a significant fan of this player,” Merson stated. “I am surprised that Arsenal did not make a significant effort to acquire him at the beginning of the season; I believe he was the missing piece.”

“I believe that he is capable of performing all tasks, including coming up short, entering the box, and spreading the game. This is essential for Arsenal.” It is imperative to disseminate the game by engaging individuals such as Saka and Odegaard for the ball. At present, Arsenal is somewhat congested and lacks a player who can extend the game by running beyond the box.

“I am a big fan of him; I thought his header against Arsenal last week was exceptional due to his ability to manoeuvre between the two centre halves.” Arsenal’s stalemate with Chelsea results in Newcastle United finishing the day just one point behind the Gunners in the Premier League table.
