‘A lot of trouble’: Pundit believes Pep Guardiola did £130k-a-week Man City player no favours last night
“Extremely troubled”: A rumor circulates that Pep Guardiola did no favors for a Manchester City defender earning £130,000 per week last night. Pat Nevin claims that Josko Gvardiol encountered “extreme difficulty” against Aston Villa.
City were dominated by Unai Emery’s squad and failed to return to winning ways at Villa Park following three consecutive draws against Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur.City, lacking Rodri, was simply unable to compete with the hosts, who dominated in every category.
Villa delivered the type of performance that has long been associated with Manchester City.
City managed a mere two attempts on target and a total of two, while Villa managed twenty-two and seven on target.
One individual who will be eager to erase the game from his memory is Josko Gvardiol, who had a tremendous time…Josko Gvardiol, according to Pat Nevin, labored tremendously for Manchester City against Aston Villa. On the City left side, one of Villa’s notable players was Leon Bailey, who tormented Gvardiol, a £130,000-per-week Croatian defender.
In recent weeks, Gvardiol has not been in particularly fine form; he appeared shaky against Chelsea and was not impressive against Spurs.
However, this may have been his worst performance to date in sky blue. However, former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin believed that Pep Guardiola did him little favors.Nevin stated on Football Daily: “However, [Leon] Bailey, who scored the game-winning goal, had an opportunity early on, and I told you that he was up against [Josko] Gvardiol, a full-back who is not a full-back.
“Recall that in the World Cup semi-final, Lionel Messi was against him, and he executed a simple dummy and drag back; Messi’s dummy was not that complicated.”
“I’m just thinking that’s a tackle for a central defender. I’m an enormous Gvardiol fan, but leaving him at left defender against a player who is a speed merchant and outright trickster caused him a great deal of trouble.”
The inability of Gvardiol to adapt
Gvardiol had an abysmal day at the office, but it is difficult not to feel pity for him.Young and in his inaugural season in the Premier League, he is still acquiring the necessary skills to operate on that left flank.
Given his profession as a central defender, it is inevitable that he will encounter challenges in his current position.
Guardiola may not have been wise to send Bailey there instead of Nathan Ake, given that Gvardiol has been exhibiting shaky form and Bailey has been in outstanding form.
