A Premier League midfielder is set to join Ipswich Town, with the medical now done and the deal nearly over the line

Ipswich Town have strengthened their midfield with the loan signing of Dan Neil from Sunderland, after the midfielder successfully completed his medical, as confirmed by Sky Sports.

The move provides a timely boost for Kieran McKenna’s side as they aim to build momentum.

Neil, who captained Sunderland during their promotion campaign, brings leadership and valuable experience.

However, his long-term future at the Stadium of Light remains uncertain, with his contract set to expire in the summer. Game time has also been limited this season, making the switch an important opportunity for the 24-year-old to play regularly.

McKenna has been eager to reinforce his midfield options, and Neil fits the bill as a composed, Championship-proven presence.

The deal appears to suit all sides — Sunderland allow a player to gain minutes, Ipswich add quality depth, and Neil gets a platform to reignite his progress.
