“Abnormal” – Reason why Celtic F.C stopped 24-year-old player Luis Palma from playing for Honduras against Cuba and Bermuda in the upcoming World cup qualifiers match

Now that the international break is over, some Celtic players are getting ready to play for Scotland in Euro 2024.

Greg Taylor, Anthony Ralston, and James Forrest were all called by Steve Clarke last week to join the current team and will be joining Callum McGregor.

If the Celtic trio do well in tonight’s bounce game against Gibraltar and Friday’s friendly against Finland at Hampden, they will try to get on the plane to Germany with the Hoops captain.

But another Celtic player is going to be on international duty in the next few weeks. It looks like the club has stepped in to make sure he doesn’t play in a game that was supposed to happen later this month.

Celtic want Palma took a break.

Luis Palma was called up to play for Honduras in their next three games, including next week’s World Cup qualifiers against Cuba and Bermuda.

Honduran manager Reinaldo Rueda, on the other hand, said that Palma will not play in the third game against Ecuador on June 16. He said that Rueda was told by Celtic that playing Palma in that game was not in his control.

Reida [Diez] said, “Every call-up has its problems. In the analysis we did, we also looked at the micro-cycles that were done.”

“We know that we have an unusual situation; our game against Ecuador on June 16 falls outside of FIFA’s regular schedule, so we made an extended call-up for those who will be disqualified after the game against Bermuda.”

“You have to keep it friendly with their clubs, and when they’re not on FIFA dates, they get very envious.” [translation by Deep L]

Celtic clearly wants Palma to have a full summer break so that he can be ready for the next season. The Parkhead club will have a very busy first half of the season as they try to defend their title and make a run at the Champions League.

Because it wasn’t an official FIFA match, the club took the step of taking Palma out of the game against Ecuador.

This season, Palma has already said that he had to put in extra hours on the training pitch to get fitter. It’s clear that Brendan Rodgers wants him back in great shape for what will be a long season.
