Sent a goodbye message to Newcastle player Sean Longstaff, who is leaving the team. North End are changing the look of their team for the new season, and a number of top players are on their way out. Newcastle will spend a lot of money on new players
this summer because they want to qualify for the Champions League after finishing fifth in the Premier League and winning the EFL Cup last season. Newcastle wanted to spend £175 million on James Trafford, Anthony Elanga, and Joao Pedro, but Eddie Howe missed out on them. That won’t stop them from trying to spend more,
though. Newcastle won’t only be getting players, though. In April, Paul Robinson told Football Insider that Howe would sell off their less important players to raise money, and those players have already started leaving. Callum Wilson’s departure from Newcastle has been announced. Longstaff is one of the players who is expected to leave this summer.
He only played 12 games across all competitions last season, and other Premier League clubs are interested in the midfielder. Calum Wilson was in the same situation as Longstaff before the transfer window. However, he can now find a new club since his official departure from Newcastle was announced on Monday (7 July).
Longstaff is going to hit Wilson at the Newcastle exit door. What a Football Insider Says Wilson is now the most famous player to leave Newcastle so far, but he won’t be the last big name to leave. Leeds and Everton are the teams most likely to sign Longstaff this summer. Newcastle still needs to add players to a number of places.
Wilson’s departure leaves a hole in Howe’s striker lineup behind Alexander Isak, but it’s not long until Longstaff joins the team in the middle of the field. Since Newcastle isn’t likely to get rid of Joelinton, Sandro Tonali, or captain Bruno Guimaraes any time soon, it’s not a surprise that they’re ready to accept offers of £10–12 million for Longstaff to leave his home club.
