After Inigo Martinez commences Barcelona’s La Liga victory, Osasuna is contemplating filing a complaint.
According to reports, Osasuna is contemplating the possibility of submitting a complaint to the RFEF following the 3-0 victory for Hansi Flick’s Barcelona team on Thursday, during which Inigo Martinez played the full 90 minutes. Martinez was declared fit to participate in the contest after recovering from a knee injury.
He withdrew from his duties in Spain due to the issue, which elicited some criticism. Mundo Deportivo and COPE have also reported that Osasuna did not respond favourably to the situation. According to the reports, Osasuna is contemplating a challenge against Martinez, as they believe that he has violated a law regarding the amount of time that must elapse following an injury absence from the national team.
The rule in question is as follows: “Unless the national federation expressly releases the player, a player who misses or withdraws from the national team due to injury is prohibited from playing for his club for five days following the final match of the international window.” On Sunday, Spain’s final match of the international break was played against the Netherlands, four days prior to Barcelona’s match against Osasuna.
Nevertheless, Martinez withdrew from the Spain roster on March 17 following the submission of a medical report by Barcelona, which confirmed that he was experiencing “internal parameniscitis in his right knee.” Osasuna’s claim, if it is made at all, is unlikely to be accepted due to the medical report’s existence and Spain’s approval of it.
