Last night, Prince Harry encountered an increasing degree of criticism from the public, the Royal Family, and ministers in response to his vehement criticism of King Charles.
In a BBC interview, the Duke of Sussex expressed his disbelief that his father “won’t speak to me” and that he was the victim of a “Establishment stitch-up.”
Additionally, he accused the Royal Household of interfering in his efforts to reestablish his security clearance with the UK authorities. However, the Government and Buckingham Palace both refuted this accusation yesterday.
The Duke’s extraordinary request that the Home Secretary Yvette Cooper “urgently” investigate the committee responsible for the decision to downgrade his security was categorically rejected by government insiders. Whitehall sources emphasized that the body is intended to be completely independent from political influence.
Palace insiders stated that his television outburst had the potential to exacerbate the rift with his family. They also noted that his statement regarding the King’s illness, in which he stated, “I am uncertain as to how much time he has left,” was particularly impolite.
Today, a Mail on Sunday poll revealed that the King has received an overwhelming amount of support in his dispute with his youngest son, which is yet another humiliating blow for the Duke.
The survey conducted by Find Out Now indicates that 64% of voters are in favor of Charles, while only 36% are in favor of his son.
It also demonstrates that the public is in favor of Harry and Meghan being divested of their HRH titles.
Meghan was reported to have been using the title in private last week, despite an agreement that they would not do so.
The BBC was also criticized by Palace insiders for allowing the Duke’s outlandish claims to remain unchallenged.
Harry claimed that the Royal Family had exerted undue influence over the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) of the Home Office after judges ruled against him over the security issue on Friday.
He expressed his astonishment upon discovering that the committee includes two significant Royal Household assistants.
The royal source insisted that their involvement was long-standing and that they did not have a “advocacy” function. They provide guidance regarding the royals’ activities, according to the source.
The Duke suggested in his television interview that they may have influenced decisions on behalf of the Royal Family. He also stated that he would request that the Home Secretary “examine this matter with the utmost care” and evaluate the influence of Ravec and the Royal Household.
