Celtic defeated Rangers in the League Cup final one week following the enchanting evening at Hampden.
However, Celtic failed to score for the first time in the Premiership this season, resulting in a goalless draw against Dundee United.
This was only the second time that Celtic had surrendered points. Daizen Maeda was one of the players from the Hampden contest who retained his position in the XI; however, Yang Hyun-Jun commenced play in place of the injured Nicolas Kuhn.
Aiden McGeady desired to witness Daizen Maeda and Yang Hyun-Jun exchange wings. Celtic’s performance against Dundee United was lacking in both cutting edge and sharpness.
Yang was replaced by Luis Palma after an hour, and Maeda played for 86 minutes. Aiden McGeady disclosed that he communicated to James McFadden his desire to observe the wide tandem exchange wings while they were on the field.
believed that Celtic were not performing well in the final third, which would have likely improved their quality, as he stated in an interview with Sky Sports Football (22/12/24 at 3:30 pm).
“The first half was characterized by a significant amount of control over the ball and the game, but the killer instinct was absent in the final third today,” stated McGeady.
“Myself and Faddy (McFadden) expressed that it would have been beneficial to observe Yang shift to the left and exchange positions with Maeda, as the introduction of Palma and Idah did slightly alter the intensity of the game and the forward play.”
“However, Palma consistently prefers to cut onto his right foot, whereas there were instances when it was imperative to proceed down the line and deliver crosses into the box when one is genuinely striving for a goal.”
