Al-Nassr player Cristiano Ronaldo was selected for Portugal squad in Euro 2024 as the 39-year-old sends out a strong message to fans on social media

He has been picked to play in his 11th big international tournament. Ronaldo was named to Portugal’s squad for Euro 2024.

With 206 games and 128 goals for Portugal, the 39-year-old Al-Nassr forward is the most played player in the history of international football.

Roberto Martinez, the manager of Portugal, chose Ronaldo as one of seven forwards in his 26-person squad for the event next month in Germany.

It was Martinez who told the press that Ronaldo still had “a quality in front of goal that we greatly appreciate and that we need.”

In 2004, Ronaldo played in his first event. Portugal made it to the final at home but lost to Greece.

Five times Ballon d’Or winner, he helped Portugal win Euro 2016 and the Nations League in 2018–19. These are the only big titles he has won with his country.

This team is made up of nine players from Premier League clubs. Three Wolves players—José Sa, Nelson Semedo, and Pedro Neto—made the team.

The team also has players from the English Premier League, including Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot from Manchester United, Bernardo Silva and Ruben Dias from Manchester City, Joao Palhinha from Fulham, and Diogo Jota from Liverpool.

Martinez also chose Pepe, a 41-year-old experienced defender, and Francisco Conceicao, a 21-year-old player from Porto.

Winger Conceicao, whose father used to play for Portugal, won his first full international cap against Slovenia in March.

On June 18, Portugal’s first game in Group F is against the Czech Republic. They then play Turkey and Georgia.

After being named to Roberto Martinez’s 26-man squad for Euro 2024, the 39-year-old took to social media to show how proud he was. He will be representing Portugal for a record-setting sixth time in Germany.
