Alan Brazil discusses the latest information he’s received on Celtic’s manager search

Alan Brazil reveals what he’s heard about Celtic’s “left-field” manager search amid Wilfried Nancy links

Martin O’Neill’s impressive start as interim boss has bought Celtic some valuable time in their search for a permanent manager. The Parkhead legend has guided the Hoops to three wins from three in domestic competition, with only one defeat coming in Europe, while speculation continues to swirl over who will take the reins full-time.

One name repeatedly linked with the role is Wilfried Nancy, the current head coach of MLS side Columbus Crew. And according to Alan Brazil, Celtic could be preparing to take another “left-field” approach — similar to when they appointed Ange Postecoglou back in 2021.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Brazil said he’s been told Celtic are exploring some unconventional options in their managerial hunt. “There are three we’re looking at — I don’t know this guy. Do you, Ally (McCoist)? Wilfried Nancy has emerged as a leading contender to become Celtic’s new manager. The Scottish giants are also considering Bodø/Glimt’s… is it Knutsen?”

Reflecting on Postecoglou’s success, Brazil admitted he might be proven wrong again. “I can hold my hands up when he starts winning everything. Maybe Nancy can do it as well. I don’t know who the other two are, by the way,” he added.

The former striker went on to suggest that Celtic could take inspiration from Tony Bloom’s Brighton model, identifying high-quality, lesser-known coaches from abroad. “Someone said to me, they’re going to go real left-field — someone we don’t know much about. And I thought, really?”
