Alexander Isak has informed Newcastle of the conditions under which they must retain him, putting Arsenal and Liverpool on high alert.
Alexander Isak has communicated his intentions to Newcastle United in order to maintain his status in the football league, thereby placing Arsenal and Liverpool on alert.
Newcastle and Isak had been anticipating the possibility of reaching an agreement on a new contract; however, this has not yet transpired. In an effort to secure his future in the North East, the 25-year-old has disclosed his desires to the club.
Alexander Isak is interested in playing in the Champions League, and Arsenal is a potential opponent. Newcastle United was informed by Alexander Isak’s camp that they must be providing Champions League football, as reported by the Daily Mail.
The Swede has been hesitant to assure the club of his future commitment due to his reservations regarding the Toon’s advancement.
Arsenal have made their interest in the striker known and will be on high alert, as Eddie Howe’s team is still a long way from regaining entry into Europe’s elite competition.
In November, TBR Football reported that Liverpool has also been monitoring Isak’s situation.
Newcastle won’t be overly concerned just yet as he is tied down to a contract until 2028 so they could demand a large fee if they sold him in the summer.
The Tyneside club paid a staggering £63 million to sign him from Real Sociedad back in 2022 and he could now be valued at around £100 million add the Mail’s report.
The Gunners are in clear need of an elite centre-forward with Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz as their current two options.
Arne Slot’s team are also looking for a striker with Darwin Nunez their current out-and-out option to play in the number nine role.
TBR Football’s latest report on Isak’s situation suggested that the player’s camp had been left shocked by Newcastle’s stance over however, discussions took a twist.
The club and player started talking just before Easter with an agreement expected to arrive in the summer to make Isak one of their highest earners.
But several hurdles emerged, including a prospective release clause, and Newcastle decided to cool off on talks with his current deal running until 2028.
