Newcastle United
Alexander Isak’s stance regarding Newcastle United’s official training site has been clarified in advance of Brighton.
Eddie Howe is optimistic. Alexander Isak will not be absent from Newcastle United’s forthcoming encounters. Newcastle’s Isak was absent from the squad at Liverpool due to a groin concern and is uncertain for the FA Cup match against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
Although Howe emphasised that Isak “will play” if he is healthy, there was some ambiguity regarding the striker’s condition prior to the weekend. On Friday, the striker returned to the Newcastle training facility to meet with Howe for the first time since his injury absence and undergo an evaluation in anticipation of the Brighton match.
The club maintains that they will not jeopardise Isak’s status just a fortnight prior to the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool. It is believed that the 25-year-old’s situation is not severe, as Howe provided some insight into the circumstances surrounding the injury.
“Then, on Tuesday, the second day, he experienced a slight stiffness in his body, which is a common occurrence in the bodies of athletes.” “He awoke and was not feeling entirely well.” Consequently, it was evident on the day of the match at Liverpool that he would not be participating.
Newcastle’s inability to score from open play against Premier League opposition without Isak in the team this season was further exacerbated by their failure to register a shot on target during the Liverpool encounter.
Newcastle has scored only one goal in the three league games that Isak has missed this season due to injury, which was Anthony Gordon’s penalty against Manchester City. In a 2-2 draw with AFC Bournemouth last February, Matt Ritchie was the last Newcastle player to score from open play without Isak in the team. Isak’s significance to Newcastle is evident in his 21 goals in 30 appearances thus far this season.
Additionally, Howe is optimistic that his team will not be required to contend with Isak’s absence as the season approaches its conclusion. “We are hopeful that we will not be faced with the dilemma of being without Isak,” Howe stated. “However, I am confident that we have the players to address that issue if we do.”
