‘Am I the only one who saw that?’: Pundit shares what he noticed before Man City conceded Palace equaliser.

“Am I the only one who noticed that?” a pundit inquires prior to Manchester City conceding an equalizer to Crystal Palace.Yesterday, in the Premier League, Manchester City lost another point in a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.

A situation in which Pep Guardiola’s squad squandered a two-goal lead at the Etihad Stadium is extremely uncommon.Away with that, City appeared to be in complete control heading into the final twenty minutes or so, but Jean-Philippe Mateta scored the comeback goal due to the visitors’ weak defense.

Then, in stoppage time, Michael Olise converted from the penalty spot following additional shoddy defense, a development that would have probably infuriated Pep Guardiola.

Although the outcome was extremely discouraging, analyst Frank Leboeuf noticed something in the buildup to Palace’s equalizer…

According to Frank Leboeuf, Bernardo Silva was fouled prior to Crystal Palace’s equalizer against Manchester City.ESPN FC dissected yesterday’s match, and there was some discussion regarding the events preceding the Palace equalizer.

Mateta dispossessed Bernardo Silva after he failed to clear his lines on the right side despite having the opportunity to do so.

Phil Foden ultimately blocked the perpetrator, resulting in a stonewall penalty.

Leboeuf deemed Mateta’s acquisition of the ball from Bernardo to be dubious. “Was it not a foul on Bernardo Silva that earned Crystal Palace the penalty kick?” he inquired. “Do I stand alone as the only one who observed that, or have I merely concocted it?”Pep Guardiola made no mention of Mateta’s challenge on Bernardo following the match.

Simply put, the Spaniard conceded that Foden’s challenge on Mateta resulted in a penalty.

Palace would have been severely affected.

One could posit that Silva’s loss of equilibrium was the consequence of Mateta’s arm pull.

Although it is possible that alternative referees would have erred by calling an infraction, it would have been unreasonable to penalize the player given the minimal contact.City must ultimately strengthen their defensive play.

Yesterday, it is incredible that Pep’s squad could only salvage a point after appearing so at ease in the match. Their hasty disposal of it was extremely concerning.
