American basketball power forward Draymond Green and Celtics forward Jaylen Brown slam Grant Williams with a strong message for the childish foul he made on Jayson Tatum

Celtics forward Jaylen Brown was shocked by what he saw from Williams, who played in Boston with Tatum and him from 2019 to 2023. “Like, what are we talking about?” Do you all see the same play I did?” It was Brown who told reporters in Charlotte. “He hit him like it was a play in football.” Like Ray Lewis coming through the middle or something. Things are the way they are. “Grant is smarter than that.”

People don’t like how Hornets forward Grant Williams dirty played against Celtics star Jayson Tatum near the end of Friday’s game.

At the 2:02 mark of the fourth quarter, Tatum grabbed a rebound and started a fast break. Williams then ran at him at halfcourt and hit him hard enough to knock him out. Williams was quickly given a flagrant two and kicked out of the game.

Tatum did the right thing by not fighting back. Instead, he went to the free throw line and made both of the shots he was given for Williams’s bad behavior on the court. However, Williams’ peers, especially Jaylen Brown, were not in the mood to be easy on him. Williams played for the Celtics for the first four years of his career.

Brown laughed at the idea that Williams’ shoulder check wasn’t meant to be intentional after the game.

“What does this have to do with anything?” Do you all see the same play I did?” It was Brown through ESPN. “He hit him like it was a play in football.” Ray Lewis might come across the middle or something. Things are the way they are. “Grant knows that’s not right.”

“I thought JT and Grant was friends… I guess not,” he said.

Brown’s words were in answer to Williams’s claim that he did not mean to hurt Tatum.

Williams told NBCS Boston’s Kayla Burton, “It was probably just a hard foul. It wasn’t intentional, and I wasn’t trying to hurt him in any way.” “Everyone in the league knows that he’s one of my best friends. He got up and walked away, as you can see.

In another place, Draymond Green of the Warriors said that Williams might still be mad that the Celtics traded him away and he missed the chance to win an NBA title. Williams was moved from Boston to the Mavericks in July 2023, a year before they raised banner No. 18.

Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla praised Tatum for being a grown-up and not getting back at the person who hurt him.

After beating the Hornets 124–109, the reigning champion Celtics are now 5–1 on the season. Next, on Saturday, they’ll play the Hornets again. On Monday, they’ll go to Atlanta to play the Hawks.
