Manchester United has only put four players on a list that allows them to be sold, which means that most of their players can be approached before the new season.
This summer, United can only sign four players: Andre Onana, Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, and Rasmus Hojlund. All four are expected to stay in United’s strongest XI next season.
This transfer window, United has chosen to bring in two new center backs. Raphael Varane is leaving because his contract is up, and Jonny Evans’ contract ends this month. At the same time, they need a new playmaker and an attacker.
Tony Martial left at the end of his deal, leaving Hojlund as the only natural center forward. Casemiro, on the other hand, is widely expected to leave Old Trafford this summer after a disappointing second season. United does need to add to their team, and if everything goes as planned, they could have three new players.
If Erik ten Hag keeps his job, Onana will definitely keep his spot in goal. Before making a decision about the Dutchman’s future, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reviewing the season’s end with close friends and family.
Last season, Diogo Dalot was one of United’s most reliable players. He now plays right back after filling in well at left back while Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia were out with long-term injuries.
Lisandro Martinez is expected to start in the middle of the defense, maybe next to one of the two new players. United is keeping an eye on Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen and Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton.
Branthwaite has already played in the Premier League, and at 21 years old, he is a player for the long run. Everton is not going to be pushed into a low-ball sale, but they might let him go for the right price because they are having money problems. He would cost a lot, but it would be worth it in the long run.
Next month, Shaw will be 29 years old. He is still the team’s best left back, and Malacia will be back after missing most of the season because of problems with his recovery from surgery on his knee last summer. United has enough options in that area with Dalot also available.
Mainoo became one of United’s best players last year and needs to start, even though he will only be 19 in April. He might have a new middle partner, who might have been bought with the money that was made from Casemiro.
United is keeping an eye on Amadou Onana, who plays with Branthwaite at Everton, and Arsenal is also said to be interested in the 22-year-old. And since Sofyan Amrabat is going back to Fiorentina at the end of his loan, United need to add more players to the defensive middle.
The club has also been linked with Crystal Palace star Michael Olise. The Frenchman is set to play for his country at the Olympics, but United have more time to make a deal since he wasn’t picked for France’s Euro 2024 team.
There are rumors that he is worth £60m, which is about the same as Branthwaite.
Bruno Fernandes, the captain, would play his attacking middle role if he stayed. Reports say the player could leave if the right amount of money and chance come up, but he has said he wants to stay at Old Trafford.
With Garnacho and Hojlund in the front three, the starting eleven could make a run for a top four spot.
