Araujo sparks flashpoint with Mikey Moore while Celtic rival escalates row with explicit taunt

Julian Araujo found himself at the centre of fiery scenes after the final whistle at Ibrox as tempers boiled over following Celtic’s dramatic comeback against Rangers F.C..

Sky Sports cameras captured the Mexican right-back making a provocative gesture during a heated exchange between both sets of players. The flashpoint came after Celtic battled back from two goals down to secure a draw, sparking angry confrontations across the pitch.

Veteran boss Martin O’Neill, who celebrated his 74th birthday on Sunday, was even seen trying to pull players away as the situation threatened to escalate. Araujo, however, was heavily involved, trading words with Nicolas Raskin from a distance while chaos unfolded around them.

The situation intensified when on-loan Tottenham Hotspur F.C. youngster Mikey Moore appeared to shout something in Araujo’s direction. The teenage winger then shoved the Celtic defender in the chest, prompting teammates including Dane Murray and captain Callum McGregor to step in and calm matters.

Araujo responded by laughing off the shove and making an X-rated taunt, further angering Moore before turning back to continue his spat with Raskin.

The gesture quickly went viral among supporters. Some Celtic fans praised the defender’s passion on social media, urging the club to secure his long-term future. Meanwhile, Rangers supporters criticised Araujo, pointing out his role in both first-half goals.

Earlier in the match, Youssef Chermiti had scored twice to give Rangers a 2-0 lead at the break. But despite Araujo’s involvement in those goals, Celtic rallied in the second half to rescue a valuable point in the title race.
